Q: Museum Admission: On their website, the Houston Museum of Natural Science (HMNS) says that it costs $25 a day for an individual and $33 extra to experience the Cockrell Butterfly Center, Burke Baker Planetarium and Wortham Giant Screen Theatre. This is quite expensive considering this is a four-day event. See HMNS Admission. How much will it cost FOHBC Members?
A: Access to HMNS is FREE to all FOHBC Members. You will receive an “Open House” lanyard Access Pass to access all areas and exhibits in the world renowned museum. $58 x 4 days = $232 savings per person.
Q. Museum Parking: What about parking at HMNS? Their website says it is $30 a day.
A. HMNS Garage Parking is FREE for all FOHBC Members (Typically $30 or $10 for Museum members a day). $30 x 4 days = $120 savings.
If you are not a current FOHBC member in good standing, and choose to remain that way, you will be responsible for paying the museum daily admission and parking fees. These are otherwise FREE for FOHBC members. You will be able to join the FOHBC at any point during the Houston 24 Expo to waive these costs. No post-event or post-date refunds.
Q. Hotel ZaZa Parking: What does it cost to park at Hotel ZaZa if I am not staying at the hotel?
A. The hotel offers daily parking at $12 per car, per day. It is free at the Museum parking garage with your HMNS pass. Valet parking is $36 overnight.
Q. Parking at other Museums: I know that museum parking is free for FOHBC members. Is this only at their garage or does this include the other garages in the Museum District?
A. Parking for FOHBC members is free only at the HMNS garage. HMNS does not have a parking relationship with other museums in the district.
Q. Hotel ZaZa Oversize Vehicles: Due to the height restrictions of the museum parking garage (6′-8″), a person cannot utilize since their van is 6′-10″ high. Are there any parking options available for higher profile vehicles near at or near the hotel?
A. The hotel asks that you park on the side of the hotel in front of the Monarch restaurant (their side driveway).
Q. Overnight Parking: It is my understanding that the HMNS garage does not allow overnight parking so if staying in the area it is best to just pay for the Hotel ZaZa valet overnight parking.
A. That is correct. Pretty much everywhere you go these days, if you’re any place close to a city, you’re going to pay for parking overnight, especially if it’s a hotel.
Q. Early Admission: How much is Early Admission at the Houston 24 Antique Bottle and Glass Show & Sale at Hotel ZaZa?
A. Early Admission is available for non-Dealers who would like the privilege of buying early from the Dealers. The Early Admission fee is $100 for individuals or a family couple (including minor children). This price includes a Souvenir Program and the appropriate name tag badges required for admission to the showroom floor. The discounted Early Admission rate for current and paid up FOHBC members is $90.
Q. Who is a VIP?:
A. While every FOHBC Member is a Very Important Person, there is need to distinguish and identify a group of Houston 24 individuals. In this case VIP is defined as early admission, dealers, assistants, displayers, seminar presenters, speakers, Team Houston 24 and approved volunteers.
Q. Expo Check-In: Will check-in be at the Houston Museum of Natural Science or Hotel ZaZa?
A. Both. See attached schedule. Early registration and packet pickup is at the Houston Museum of Natural Science (HMNS) on Thursday, 01 August from 9:00 to 6:00 pm. Registration and packet pickup on Friday, 02 August is at Hotel ZaZa, Piano Man Lounge.
Q. General Admission: How much is General Admission at the Houston 24 Antique Bottle and Glass Show & Sale at Hotel ZaZa?
A. General Admission is $5.
Q. Hayfield Event: Does it cost anything to attend the Peachridge Glass “Glass in the Grass” event?”
A. The event is FREE for the public. Dealers pay $25 for vehicle sales (per space).
Q. Museum Exhibition #1: What does it cost to see the five-day American Antique Glass Masterpieces exhibition in the Brown Gallery? Can I attend the VIP opening ceremony?

Q. FOHBC Breakfast: How much is it to attend FOHBC Membership Breakfast Meeting on Friday morning? Do I have to be a FOHBC member?
A. Yes you have to be a FOHBC member or Associate Member in good standing. The event is FREE only if you are a member. Remember this is an annual membership meeting too. Friends and non FOHBC Members in your party should be directed to the Hotel ZaZa Monarch for breakfast.
Q. Banquet: How do I attend the “Dining with the Dinosaurs” Banquet?” What does it cost per person?
A. While you pay $55 for your meal (as per all FOHBC conventions) you get unfettered evening access to the great HMNS Morian Hall of Paleontology. Plus you will see the Banquet program which features the keynote speaker, club and individual awards, presentation, and cash bar cocktail party. Meal selections noted in the Houston 24 Info Packet.
Q. Bottle & Glass Competition: What does it cost to attend the catered cash bar “Texas Hold ‘Em” Antique Bottle & Glass Competition at Hotel ZaZa?
A. You can attend FREE as a FOHBC member in good standing.
Q. Educational Seminars: Does it cost anything to attend the FOHBC Educational Seminars at Hotel ZaZa?
A. You can attend Seminars FREE whether you are a FOHBC member or not.
Q. Children & Youth Events: We would like to bring our children to Houston 24? I realize the host venue is a Natural History Museum and the event is located in the Houston Museum District with the Houston Zoo, etc. What about at the bottle show at Hotel ZaZa?
A. The FOHBC will provide Bottle Grab Bags for children ten and under during the Houston 24 Antique Bottle and Glass Show & Sale. The FOHBC will also encourage children and young adults from ages eight on up to participate in an organized Bottle & Glass Bingo Scavenger Hunt during the same hours noted above.
Q. FOHBC Memberships: Can I buy a FOHBC membership at any time during the Houston 24 Expo to utilize cost savings?
A. Yes. Please visit the FOHBC tables, join prior to the event or online at the event. Join the FOHBC. Buying a membership after the event does not allow for post event rebates. Access and membership is on an individual basis. Because you are a member of a FOHBC affiliated club does not get you access, unless you are a FOHBC individual member already.
Q. Houston 24 Event Sponsor & Underwriter: How can the FOHBC afford to provide so much for event attendees, all FREE or at a relative low cost?
A. The Houston Museum of Natural Science has graciously offered their museum, parking garage and paid for all event spaces within Hotel ZaZa, well over $100,000 in value, and offered to host Houston 24. The Museum CEO is an antique bottle and glass collector, among many other things and is responsible for making this happen. He will be the Keynote Speaker at our Dinosaur Banquet.
Q. Drake’s Plantation Bitters: How many cobalt blue Drakes Plantation Bitters Houston 24 commemorative bottles are being made? Can I purchase if I am not attending the Hou 24 event?
A. The Drakes commemorative bottles will be on sale first at the Hou24 Expo and will most likely sell out. Michael Craig donated his time and money to produce a mold, hand blow, with his glass crew, 100 to 200 applied mouth, pontiled examples. A laborious project.
